Abstract

The Field Experience Practicum Program (KPPM) is a community-based initiative by the Faculty of Christian Education at IAKN Tarutung, designed to provide students with practical learning outside the classroom. Held at GPI Batang Beruh in North Sumatra, this program allowed students to engage directly with the community, focusing on Sunday School children. Activities included fun mathematics lessons, group games, Bible studies, and art workshops. These sessions not only enhanced the children’s academic and creative skills but also deepened their religious and moral understanding. KPPM offers students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, helping them develop valuable soft skills like communication, empathy, and leadership. It aligns with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, which promotes learning beyond campus limits. More than an academic exercise, the program has a profound impact on both students and children—fostering character development, strengthening spiritual growth, and reinforcing the values of service and compassion within the local community.
